Chicaque Natural Park - Colombia

Chicaque it's a forest located just 30 minutes away from Bogota, Colombia. In this place it is possible to do different things, you can hike, camp, go horse-back riding, or just to unwind while enjoying the beautiful landscape. If you want spend the night, you can sleep in the refugio, cabins, tree houses or tents.

If you go here it is important to have good shoes, for example hiking boots or sneakers, but remember, when you finish hiking, your shoes will be dirty and if you don't have good sneakers you might slip.

You can choose different routes, if you want do the long route, you need to arrive really early because it will take you 5.5 hours there and 5.5 hours back, with one hour for lunch. You can find two waterfalls, if you go during rainy season you can see a lot of water, but if you want to see the most beautiful view, you need to go on a sunny day, otherwise you'll only see clouds.

The park has one restaurant, in this map it's point G. Here you can buy tickets for canopy and zip line, eat typical Colombian dishes and buy drinks. This walk is special because you start at the top, and you finish at the top. You will need to have energy and drinks when you come back. If walking is too difficult for you, you can pay for a jeep or a horse to take you up, or take the easy route, this is the road for cars but this is not through the forest.

Transport:

You have two or three different options:

1. You can take the Transmilenio to Terreros station, from here you can take a little van with a minimum of 6 people. You will probably have to wait for 15 minutes. From here it will take you 30 minutes to get to the park.

2. Take your car and drive for 2 hours. There are two routes, the first way is the road towards ''Mosquera'', and the second is through ''Soacha''. Both are easy because the roads are in really good condition. You might find walkers and can give them an ''aventón'' by taking them into the park.

3. Take a ''flota'' or ''intermunicipal'' on Calle 13 towards Mosquera. One hour later a few meters after the Mondoñedo toll, you'll see a road on the left, ask the driver to stop here. Take this road and walk for 50 minutes. If you see a car, you can ask for an ''aventón'' and they can bring you to the park.
